Keep This Place Weird
In my travels throughout my life, I noticed that I have an affinity for places that proudly boast civic slogans of Keep [this city] Weird. When I attended college, Madison was filled with bumper stickers proclaiming that its citizens should Keep Madison Weird. When moved to the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area, I saw the same bumper stickers, but instead inciting its denizens to Keep Portland Weird. Now I have found a southern city that howls the same battle cry, Austin. Now I just need to figure out more space on my bumper…
